A Matter of Taste Pottery
I have been working in clay for about 10 years now.
What a Joy it is!
Ever since that one Christmas Season (in the 60's)when I saw the *Pottery Wheel* advertised on T.V. (you know what I mean) I have had a strong inkling to get my hands dirty.
Many years later and with thanks to a wonderful husband, my dream has come true!
As with all hobbies, you need space. My space started with a very small storage room. I outgrew that within a year. Then my husband suggested I think about moving into our garage (well, a third of it anyway).
I felt like I was in heaven with all that room.
You guessed it, I have been inching my way further and further and now have a little over half. I would like to have more but.....
All of my pottery is made with love (and sometimes a bit of wine). All pieces are handmade by using *The Wheel* or *Slab Roller* or *Extruder* and sometimes just *My Hands*
After my pieces have dried, they are put into the kiln to be fired. The first firing is called a *Bisque Fire* Which takes the dry clay, transforms it and prepares it for glazing. I then glaze the bisque fired pieces and put them back into the *Gas Kiln* and high fired them to around 2263 degrees F.
The kiln then cools for 24 hrs or so before it can be opened.
After the cooling off period and the kiln is opened, it is Christmas all over again!
Some *Great* Some *Good*and Some *What Happened*
Whatever the outcome, I will never forget that commercial so many years ago.
No, I did not get the *Pottery Wheel* then.
But thanks to my wonderful husband I have it now!
